Raymond J. Kakuba, joined EASSI in 2021 as a Project Assistant for the ‘’Mutukula Border”. His mission is to mobilize Women Cross Border Traders (WCBTs) for an enhanced women participation in trade particularly through ensuring a better contribution to the control and elimination of Violence against Women (VAW) in trade at the OSBP. Raymond holds a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies with a major in human rights and a minor in Public Health from Makerere University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management.
Previously, Raymond has worked for Mild May – Uganda, the Cancer Charity Foundation on a funding from the American Cancer Society (AMS) to combat the Cancer epidemic in Uganda and the International Law Institute – African Centre for Legal Excellence (ILI – ACLE) in Uganda, a multi-lateral global development institution focused on governance and policy improvement in developing countries. There he concentrated on promoting and coordinating the institutions’ activities in Uganda. He also participated in building and maintaining an enduring relationship with local stakeholders like government officials and the private sector.
He has years of practical experience in non-governmental organizations, companies and even international organizations with an enriching experience in Health Programming around Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R), HIV and AIDS, Livelihoods, Advocacy, Effective Project Management, Mobilization of Resources, and Coordination of Partnerships . Raymond has worked on issues related to governance, peace, Gender Based Violence (GBV), health, equity and gender.
